Saving Our Sons has been a national phenomenon aimed at examining active solutions to assist our boys of color. In 2010, Councilmember Mike Gipson of the City of Carson sparked the city to examine boys of color in Carson under Save Our Sons. This monumental event gave attention to the needs of young men in Carson and surrounding cities such as Compton and Long Beach.
As an Assemblymember, he has broadened his leadership to include: Carson, Compton, Gardena, Harbor Gateway, Lynwood, North Long Beach, Rancho Dominguez, South Los Angeles, Torrance, Watts/Willowbrook and
Wilmington.
Mr. Gipson is once again partnering with Challenging Minds to continue the work to respond with solutions to examine best practices, resources, and strategies of success to motivate our boys of color and enhance the skills of stakeholders and caretakers.
The mission of Save Our Sons is to reclaim and invest in our young men of color to meet the challenges of education, society, and personal barriers to successfully provide strategies and techniques to navigate life.
